Open Access Data Centres (“OADC”) is a subsidiary of WIOCC, established in 2018 with African developmental support/funding from IFC and Proparco; now owned by 10 major African telecom operators and leading Africa focused private equity fund manager, African Capital Alliance (ACA).
OADC is supporting and accelerating Africa’s digital transformation by investing $500m over 5 years (2021-2026) to establish a pan-African presence of Tier III certified inter-linked Carrier Neutral and Open Access data centres. OADC’s aim is to offer truly world-class infrastructure, operations, and services, and to become the pre-eminent pan-African infrastructure partner to Cloud Operators, OTTs, Content Service Providers (CSPs), Telcos/Carriers, Metro Operators, ISPs, Government, Finance & Large Enterprises.
OADC’s LOS1 data centre is on a 4-ha site in the Lekki district of Lagos, close to all major sub-sea cable landing stations. The Equiano subsea cable lands directly into the Data Centre, minimising risks associated with terrestrial backhaul. At full build, the initial 2-ha facility delivers up to 20MW site load via diverse 33kV supplies and 6,200 sqm of IT white space.
