Professor Emmanuel Adewale Adedokun

Professor Emmanuel Adewale Adedokun is a distinguished Nigerian academic, technology executive, and international internet governance leader with over two decades of experience in computer engineering education, network infrastructure, and ICT policy. He currently serves as Professor of Computer Engineering at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Director of the Iya Abubakar Institute of ICT, Deputy Director of the Nigeria National Center, Institute of Online Education (IIOE), and Chairman of the African Network Information Centre (AFRINIC) Board of Directors.

Adedokun serves on the EC of the ICANN Non-Commercial Stakeholders Group (NCSG), and is a member of the Nigerian School of Internet Governance Advisory Board. He is the National Events Coordinator of the Nigeria Network Operators Group (ngNOG), and Co-coordinator of Nigeria Peering and Interconnection Forum (ngPIF). His career uniquely bridges rigorous academic scholarship, hands-on technical expertise, and high-level strategic leadership in African internet development.

Professor Adedokun is a scholar-practitioner whose career exemplifies the transformative power of technology when combined with visionary leadership, technical excellence, and a commitment to national and continental development. His dual roles in academia and international internet governance position him uniquely to advance research, policy, and capacity building for Africa’s digital future. In 2025, he received the prestigious Paul Muchene Fellow Award from ICANN, recognising his outstanding contributions to internet policy and technical development in the African region.
